KLCI down, trading volume tops 10 billion units

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 4): Bursa Malaysia sustained its downtrend in the mid-afternoon as the benchmark FBM KLCI had declined 4.98 points to 1,623.28 as at 3.05pm today.

The index opened 0.35 of a point lower at 1,627.91 from yesterday's close of 1,628.26.

On the broader market, losers outnumbered gainers 740 to 482, while 441 counters were unchanged, 470 untraded and 30 others suspended.

Trading volume stood at 10.33 billion units worth RM4.48 billion.

Among the heavyweights, Top Glove Corp Bhd had declined 16 sen to RM6.62, IHH Healthcare Bhd depreciated eight sen to RM5.42, and Hartalega Holdings Bhd went down 16 sen to RM14.50.

Petronas Gas Bhd eased 18 sen to RM17.24, while Telekom Malaysia Bhd (TM) was 16 sen lower at RM5.21.

Among the actives, Yong Tai Bhd rose 6.5 sen to 36 sen, Ho Wah Genting Bhd inched up four sen to 88.5 sen, and Metronic Global Bhd added 1.5 sen to 13.5 sen.

On the index board, the FBM Emas Index reduced 17.81 points to 11,740.30, the FBMT 100 Index declined 17.17 points to 11,494.97, and the FBM Emas Shariah Index dwindled 74.47 points to 13,463.01.

The FBM 70 added 47.79 points to 15,215.17, while the FBM ACE decreased 76.18 points to 10,662.54.

Meanwhile, the Industrial Products and Services Index declined 0.54 of a point to 172.41, while the Plantation Index dropped 18.71 points to 7,355.44, though the Financial Services Index appreciated 70.74 points to 14,618.61.
