AWC JV secures second water infrastructure project worth RM21m

KUALA LUMPUR (Dec 2): AWC Bhd and its partners have bagged a RM20.87 million subcontract relating to a water treatment plant in Jasin, Melaka.

The group said its unit DD Techniche Sdn Bhd and joint venture (JV) partners Techkem Utilities Sdn Bhd and Techkem Resources Sdn Bhd were awarded the job by Aliran Intelek Sdn Bhd.

Techkem is a unit of Techkem Group, one of the leading water treatment solution providers in process and speciality chemicals, involved in various projects in multiple industries.

The subcontract entails engineering, supply, construction and all related works for the implementation of the water treatment plant using the gravity sand filter system, AWC said in a filing with Bursa Malaysia.

"The main contract shall commence from Oct 28, 2020 and the works shall be completed by June 15, 2021, or such other extended date(s) as may be applicable under the provisions of the main contract," it said.

"The project is expected to contribute positively to the earnings of the AWC Group over the duration of the project," AWC added.

On Oct 15, AWC said the JV won its maiden water infrastructure project in Sarawak worth RM7.33 million from Real Teamtrade Sdn Bhd.

Shares in AWC fell 0.5 sen or 1.08% to close at 46 sen today with a market capitalisation of RM137.66 million.
