KUALA LUMPUR (Oct 21): The investigation into an alleged breach of a Covid-19 mandatory quarantine order involving Plantation Industries and Commodities Minister Datuk Dr Mohd Khairuddin Aman Razali (pictured) has been classified as no further action (NFA) by the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC).

Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) director Datuk Huzir Mohamed said the AGC issued the NFA directive following no strong evidence to establish the charges against Mohd Khairuddin.

“The police have handed over the investigation paper to the AGC and the instruction for this case is NFA.

“In terms of evidence, it was found that he (Mohd Khairuddin) was not issued with a home surveillance order (Form 14b) under the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Act (Act 342) for the purpose of undergoing quarantine,” he said in a special press conference in Bukit Aman today.

On Sept 30, the media reported that the police were resubmitting an investigation paper on the case as directed by the AGC.

Mohd Khairuddin had previously faced criticism, including urging him to resign following allegations that he failed to comply with the mandatory quarantine order to prevent the spread of Covid-19 after returning from Turkey in July.

In a separate development, Huzir said police had recorded statements from several witnesses regarding the investigation into the false allegations that Melaka State Assembly speaker Datuk Seri Ab Rauf Yusoh had sexually assaulted a hotel female employee in Ayer Keroh on Oct 2.

“The investigation paper has been opened and we recorded statements of individuals related to the case.

“Police have also seized closed circuit television (CCTV) camera footage from the location, apart from working with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to trace the address that made defamatory statements through Facebook involving the case,” he said.

Earlier, the media reported that a woman lodged a police report pertaining to a message making rounds on Facebook alleging that Ab Rauf had sexually assaulted her.
